Puttu

I love this steamed puttu but takes a little time and mess. But I tried to make it as simple as possible and it turned out to be easy and yummy

Ingredients

Rice Flour : 2 cups
Ground Coconut : 1 cup
Water : Accordingly



Directions

  • Roast the rice powder nicely until you get the aroma and let it cool down
  • Mix water and salt accordingly until it is just wet. 
  • The right consistency is you should be able to make a ball out of the wet rice as well as break it back into a powder form. 
  • Now you can either make it in Puttu maker or an idly maker which is basically a steamer. 
  • Fill 2 Tbsp grated coconut to the puttu maker and then a handful of wet rice powder.
  • Repeat this once more to make two layers. 
  • Steam it for 10 minutes and hot Puttu is ready to serve. 

This is best served with Banana or Yummy Kadala Curry
